On June 17th, 2015 at the Ministry of Health of the Slovak republic there was a meeting on the lack of rules governing the decision making process of reimbursement of so called non-categorised medicines. A medicine not included in the list of categorised medicines can be paid from the health insurance only on the grounds of consent granted by the health insurance company. There are no exact criteria for such consent and there is no legal entitlement or claim to have the consent granted. Our law does not contain any mechanism by which the decision of the insurance company about refusal can be contested.
